General Information

 1. Passports and Visas
 
No visa is required for UE, US or Canada passport holders, for a stay up to 90 days. For stays exceeding three months, please contact the nearest consulate of Spain. If you are not a UE, US or Canadian passport holder, please contact the Embassy or Consulate of Spain in your country regarding visa requirements. 2. Inoculations:
 
No inoculations are required when travelling between Europe, the United States or Canada and Spain.
 
3. Money
 
Since January the 1st 2002 the new currency in Spain, as in most European countries, is the Euro (€). No matter which motif is on the coins or notes they can be used anywhere in the Euro zone (27 different countries in Europe, including Spain). The rate of exchange is approximately: 1€ = $1,32 (January 2011).
 
4. Medical Information
 
The National Health Care System in Spain has a vast network of medical centers and hospitals spread across the country. They offer primary care services, as well as specialized attention. Although you will be treated in case of emergency, you will need to pay for medical attention, so you are advised to purchase health insurance. In any case, we recommend that you find out from your health insurance provider, or social care institution, about their requirements and policies about getting medical attention in Spain.
 
Medications

In Spain, medications are obtained at pharmacies. They are marked with a green cross. If you are taking any medication it is recommended that you carry a letter from your doctor stating your prescription and dosage.
 
Emergency

Emergency phone number is 112, valid and free in the entire Spanish territory.
 
5. Do I have to purchase any insurance?
 
We strongly encourage you to purchase cancellation and interruption insurance and additional health insurance to protect against financial loss from unforeseen accidents, illness, and/or loss of baggage.

2. Can I use a credit or debit card in Sapain?
 
Yes, ATM's are readily available all over Spain You can take money out of an ATM with your bank card from home, and only a small fee will apply.
